BBC Ideas Insects
I’ve always loved botanical illustrations so I feel that I’ve been very lucky to work on so many films with a botanical theme. These are two that were made for BBC Ideas.
Why insects are so crucial to life on Earth (2023)
In 2023 I worked as a storyboard artist and designer on Why Insects Are So Crucial To Life On Earth, a film about averting the insect apocalypse. The film was narrated by Dave Goulson, author of Silent Earth and created for BBC Ideas. The final film can be seen here.
The woman whose paintings changed science forever (2022)
In 2022 I worked on a similar short film as a storyboard artist and designer about 17th Century artist and naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian, told using animation based on her own illustrations. Created for BBC Ideas in collaboration with the Royal Society. The final film can be seen here.
